The Upper Aude Valley invites you to discover its winding roads, which run through deep
gorges and legendary cols of the Pyrenees. Your itineraries will blend together the beauty of
the scenery and your physical effort.
VTT routes are displayed on the local information boards with 39 mountain biking routes and
7 linking itineraries, over 870 km of way marked trails. The routes are marked out according
to their difficulty. Green and blue trails suit families and beginners. Red and black trails
suit experienced mountain bikers with their technical and steep slopes.
The French have a passion for cycling the world famous Tour De France cycle race created in
1903 is high on the French sporting list and passes near by our gite in Axat. The build up is a
fabulous spectacular a great family day out. This year the Women's cycle race Tour d'Aude
set off from outside the gite visit

CYCLE ROUTE DISTANCE 44km TIME 3hr 30m
START Maurette's Wine Domain near Serres to Rennes les Bains toward Bugarach. Take a
well earned rest at the cafe. Head towards Les Linas towards Sougraine. A great viewing
point of Bugarach, Canigou and Pech Cardou. Head towards Arques stop to admire the Chateau
RETURN via the Pontils.
