From our Holiday Gite in Languedoc Roussillon the wine route leads from Maury to Rivesaltes. Vineyards stretch across the Corbieres with private Domaines lining the way. Closer to Spain the vines flourish in dry chalky soil producing excellent Red, White, Rosé and Muscadet.

Volontat-Bachelet family is a traditional Maury producer since 1880, a tasting room and interesting cellar ageing their casks and vats.

Rivesaltes the famous Muscadet region. Uses very small grapes for its fortified wine. Cave Byrrh has the largest barrel in the world more than 1 million litres. Located at 6 Boulevard Violet, Thuir, west of Perpignan.
Festivals to celebrate the grape harvest are popular in Languedoc Roussillon. Many Languedoc Roussillon Domaines have colourful murals decorating the buildings and walls of the tiny villages.
