The mystery of Rennes le Chateau France began in 1781 when Dame d'Hautpoul de Blanchefort entrusted her family secret to her confessor Antoine Bigou Curé of Rennes le Chateau, promising in turn to pass it on to someone worthy enough to receive it. During the French revolution he hid documents in a Visigoth pillar inside the church. In 1791 he had a stone slab engraved with Latin inscriptions. A coded message intrigues even to this day.
In 1792 he escaped to Sabadell in Spain where he died 18 months later. He passed the secret onto Cauneille who also told Cayron and Jean Vie vicar of Rennes les Bains from 1840-1872. Cayron was tutor to Boudet a poor boy from Quillan who later became Curé of Rennes les Bains where we have two Holiday Accommodation Apartments.
Beranger Sauniere a native of Montazels near Couiza was priest of Rennes le Chateau. He and Boudet set about looking for its secret. Resulting in the construction of Tour Magdala, Villa Bethnia and an Orangery.
Many books have been written about these mysterys such as the Da Vinci Code, The Holy Blood the Holy Grail. Paintings such as Poussin's Shepherds of Arcadia and Tenier the younger's Temptation of Saint Anthony are said to reveal codes. Sacred geometry aligning churches of Peyrolles and Serres link with Pech Cardou.
